Review on the Northam All Suite Penang

Hey'all!!!
Well, last two weeks I stayed at the Northam All Suite Hotel located on the Penang Island. All I've got to say was the room is HUGE! Yeap... Very big! GIGANTIC!!! By the way, the hotel services aren't that sufficient. Although the room was great, but the management was quite bad. Fyi, it's quite a distance from the famous Gurney Drive. So I guess if you are a stroller person, it's not a place you should choose to stay. But those who LURVE big rooms, this hotel could be in your option. Eating at night is also a lil incovenient cos you gotta get a taxi or if you have a car, drive out to get dinner. :)

Here are some pictures I took while staying there...

Here's the living hall. :) Back there(an entry) it's the room.

 The bedroom.

Forgot to mention that every room/suite has its own jacuzzi, living and dining hall. Awesome or what?? By the way, our room is the supposely extra bigger room. HEHE...

Another angle of the living hall.

 The dining hall.

The dining and at the back is the study. :D

 Overview of the room.

Lastly, the swimming pool. Since it's a lil small, so I normally chose to swim in the mid-afternoon.

Overall, the hotel was just okay for me... If you wanna know more about the hotel OR interested in staying there, you can check out their website at www.northamhotel-penang.com. ;)

Kek Batik @ Chocolate Biscuit Cake

I tried this kek batik for the first time when I was in Kota Bharu. You can get it in the market or some malay restaurants.

I always find this kek batik in particular very unique. I was young teenager then when I tried this and always looking forward to buy more when ever I visited Kota Bharu again. I always wonder whats in the kek batik that makes it different from an ordinary cake.

So I decided to check on the website, and there I found my answer. I was surprised it was really simple to make one. As I been baking cakes all this while, this is way easier than any cakes I have bake.

Kek Batik - It has a soft and fudgy texture and alittle crunchiness from the biscuits.

Its not exactly a cake where you start beating the eggs until fluffy, or sieved the flour as its flourless, or even need to bake it in the oven.  All you need to do is form thick custard from butter, chocolate bars / cocoa powder, sugar, condensed milk and eggs. Stir them on the stove for around 15mins. Add on the marie biscuits ( break into half or smaller pieces) into the custard and pour them into the baking tray. Refrigerate it for at least 2 hours.
This can be very sweet, as it has combination of sugar plus condensed milk.  Most recipes, used up more than half the tin of condensed milk. I decided to twit on my recipe as i replaced the caster sugar to brown sugar and used only ¼ of the condensed milk. Simple isn’t it??

I am sharing the recipe which I found online.

Ingredients
100g (3/4 cup) milo *
25g (1/4 cup) cocoa powder *
125ml (1/2 cup) boiling water
190g (3/4 cup) butter, cut into large chunks
200g (1/2 tin) sweetened condensed milk
110g (1/2 cup) white granulated sugar
5 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
250g (3/4 packet) Marie biscuit

** I replaced milo and cocoa powder with dark cooking chocolate 100g instead.
** sugar I changed to fine brown sugar
** if you prefer less sweet, I suggest use only ¼ tin of condensed milk

What are you waiting for, go try this out. I am sure you will love it as much as I do.

Rosemary Fried Ribs @ JM Beriani House, Puchong

This is my second visit to JM Beriani House, and this time around, I know what I am heading for...the Rosemary Lamb Ribs. Its price around RM16.90.
Lamb Ribs

I enjoyed eating my fried lamb ribs. The meats are tender and well marinated. Goes along with their gravy which I was trying to figure out what's in it. I did asked the restaurant manager, he was not sure, I believed its Encik Mustapa's secret recipe, the owner of this outlet (not allow to share). From my taste bud, this brown gravy reminds me of some thick mushroom gravy and mixture of some spices that makes it taste real good with the lamb ribs.

Apart from the lamb ribs,  I would say the nasi briyani was just alright, choices of curry available does not really apetites me so much. Mee bandung was tasty mainly due to the dried little shrimps in it. Too much of the dried shrimps has taken over the real mee bandung originally taste should be like.

Ovarall, I only like the Rosemary Lamb Fried Ribs, as for the other food in the menu, I still think its alright. Drinks are diluted, better just stick to ice water. Alittle pricey for everything , perhaps its for the environment.

My rating will be Just Good.
